Shirkooh Mount

A mountainous area near a hot semi-desert climate amazes you to see the pleasing paradox of nature in height.

 

Mountain climbing is one of the enjoyable activities for the nature buffs. Mountanious region with natural attraction in the heart of different climate, is a fabulous shape of freedom.

ShirKooh Mount (4050 m), is a high peak in the central part of Iran that is located in Yazd province. It is a main Water Supply Source of the Taft, Mehriz, Poshtkooh, and Pishkooh village.

Shirkooh mount surrounded by four villages as follows:

  1. From the west Bagh-e Mehdi village
  2. From the North West Darreh Shir village
  3. From the West Deh Bala village
  4. From the South West Bardestan village

 

Why Shirkooh?

  1. It is snow-covered in a long period of year so it is similar to an white lion.
  2. It is like an asleep lion

 

The most famous summit in that area

Shirkooh, Barfkhaneh and Asemankooh are the most famous summit in that area, which are located in the south part of Yazd city.

 

Shelter

There won’t be any problem for camping in this region. There are one concrete and two metal shelters there. On the summit there is also an out of order shelter.

 

  • What is the best time to go?

The best time to climb Shirkooh Mount is early spring, but winter ascent is more challenging and more sportive. Also, in the summer it is too hot.

  • Getting there:

For getting there you can follow different routes the most common route is Deh Bala by passing a very deep valley “Najib Valley”.

  5. Darreh Susan
  6. Bardestan
