Pasargadae Complex

Pasargadae was the capital of the Achaemenid Empire, where the tomb of Cyrus the Great, the great men of history, is located there.

Travel to the south of Iran and Fars province to explore the facts of the Pasargadae complex. Somewhere in the Murghab and Pasargad plains, near the city of Pasargadae, there are many ancient structures that have survived from the past and have many stories to tell. Where the great Achaemenid Empire was founded and known as the first capital of this great empire. The Pasargadae complex is the fifth Iranian monument on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

  • Different parts of the Pasargadae complex

     
    • Tomb of Cyrus the Great

      A simple, beautiful and impressive monument that still stands steadily in the midst of the Murghab plain over 25 centuries. The tomb of Cyrus is considered to be the most important and most famous monument among the various monuments of the Pasargadae complex. This ancient and historic site is recognized by this tomb and many people travel a long distance to see it. This tomb is located in the southern part of the Pasargadae complex and has been built under Cyrus the Great who ordered its construction. The structure is intelligently designed to draw anybody’s attention from everywhere in the plain.
       
    • The Private Palace: Cyrus Residence

      The Private Palace is one of the palaces of the Pasargadae complex with an area of 3192 square meters, which includes a central hall and two east and west porches. There are two rooms in the northern and southern corners of the western porch, which today remains a few of them. As the architectural plans of the palace shows, it was the residence of Cyrus the Great.


       
    • The Audience Palace

      The Audience Palace was the reception palace, where the king welcomed the guests and officials of the various nations under his rule to talk about various issues. In fact, The Audience Palace was the first United Nations headquarters 25 centuries ago that human rights and human beings were raised and spread to other parts of the world.

 

 

  • What is the best time to go?
     

    All the seasons are suitable to travel there, but strolling through the Pasargadae complex in the spring has a special atmosphere. We recommend that do not visit the Pasargadae complex during the Nowruz holidays because there are plenty of travelers to take their holidays.
     
    • Visiting hours:
      • The first half of the year – 8:00 AM to 19:30 PM.
      • The second half of the year – 8:00 AM to 17:30 PM.


The entrance fee for foreign passengers is about 200,000 IRR.

 

  • Getting there?
     

    • Public transportation:
      There are some bus and taxi stations in Karandish and Ali Ibn Hamzeh Shiraz terminals to get there. You must take another ride from Sa'adat Shahr station to get the Pasargadae complex.
       
    • Railway:
      Use the Isfahan-Shiraz train and get off at Sa'adat Shahr station. From there you can get a taxi to the Pasargadae complex.

       
    • Private car:
       
      • First route: The first route is from the city of Shiraz and Marvdasht, 134 kilometers away from Shiraz to Pasargadae. Leave Shiraz for Marvdasht, then take the Sa'adat Shahr-Safa highway. Continue this route to Pasargadae to reach Murgab Plain.
         
      • Second route: If you come from Isfahan and you want to visit the Pasargadae complex on your way, you should go to highway No 65 (Abadeh-Safashahr highway). Cross the city of Safashahr and enter Sa'adat Shahr-Safa highway. The Pasargadae complex is on the right side.
