Tarof is an Iranian tradition, and there are no particular synonyms for it to provide in English. This tradition mainly focuses on respecting each other, especially the elderly. One example of Tarof is when two people arrive at a door at the same time, they would suggest that the other person pass through the door first as a sign of respect.
 
Iranian dress code for men is usually a T-shirt or long or short-sleeved buttoned-up shirts with pants (full-length, although in northern and southern parts of Iran, which have beaches, you can wear long shorts), and for women is long covering clothing with a scarf on their head.
