Heyran pass is a spectacular mountain road with 35 kilometers long that is located in the middle of the Astara road to Ardabil and is considered as one of the most beautiful routes in Iran. This pass is located in a Yaylak area (summer highland pasture) and is considered the last protected area of Gilan province. On the one side, this countryside overlooks the mountains coated with vast forests, and on the other view, you see the forests that belong to the country of Azerbaijan.

At any spot of this area, there is an alluring landscape that can bring you unforgettable moments. In the following, we mention some spectacular landscapes that worth to visit them.

 

 

  • Nature drowned in the fog
     

The first thing that fascinates your eyes when passing through this road is the forest coverage that surrounds you. Bit by bit, you will also find green pastures that cuddle huts. In the meantime, grazing livestock or horses that go alongside it are added to the landscape to captivate a lasting image on your mind. Of course, not everything ends hither. All these beauties on this passage drown in the foggy road to create a dream paradise for you and this question might come to your mind that where did this fog come from at this altitude? In fact, the fog rolls in from the Caspian Sea.

  • Hirkan National Park
     

One of the characteristics of this passage is that it is located at a border spot and you will see an enormous forest belonging to the Hirkan National Park, located in Azerbaijan. Hirkan National Park with an area of 40,358 hectares opened on February 9, 2004, by the President of Azerbaijan, to be considered as a rich source of plants and animals.

 

 

  • Spectacular villages
     

    There are several villages in the direction of the Heyran pass, which are:

     
    • Heyran village:

      This village is located 30 kilometers from Astara and is one of the attractions of this region. People in this village are engaged in agriculture. In recent years by the prosperity of tourism in this area, villagers have also been selling souvenirs, local cuisine, and more.


    • Heyran pass

       
    • Meshend village:

      Meshend village is located in Gilan province, at 18 kilometers of Astara-Ardebil road. The name of this village means the place of bees. About 117 families live in this village. Agriculture and livestock are the principal sources of livelihood for many people of this village and also engaged in some tourism services.

    • Kashfi village: 

      Kashfi village is located on the path of mountain climbing, and many nature enthusiasts visit this village at different times of the year.

 

 

  • Fandoqlu Forest:
     

Fandoglu Forest is one of the most impressive forests in Iran located 10 kilometers from Namin city and 30 kilometers from Ardabil city. This forest is coated by trees and full of fruit trees such as hazelnuts, wild apples, raspberries, strawberries, and more. If you travel to this forest in the middle of the spring, you will find plains filled with chamomile flowers that look like a dream paradise.

  • The Heyran Tourism village
     

    The Heyran Tourism village is a collection of amenities and entertainment that will give you moments of joy.

     
    • Cable Car:

      This cable car has a 1752-meter-long route that starts from the Heyran pass and continues through the Fandoghlu Forest. This cable car allows you to watch all the beauties of this area very well. The Heyran cable car except ordinary cabins has three VIP cabins with leather furniture, a music player, a refrigerator and tinted glass.


       
      • Working hours: 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM

        • Ordinary cabins: 250,000 IRR (Children under 10 years: 150,000 IRR)
        • VIP cabins: 500,000 IRR

  •  What is the best time to go?
     

Heyran pass has its beauties in every season. However, due to the mountainous area, it is better to travel there in the spring and summer. The minimum temperature of this area in the spring and summer is about 11 degrees Celsius, although the maximum temperature is 32 degrees Celsius.

  • Getting there:
     

You can travel there from two cities of Astara and Ardabil. The distance from Astara to Heyran pass is about 30 kilometers and it takes about 40 minutes while from Ardabil, the distance is about 50 kilometers and it takes about one hour.
