Imamzadeh Yahya Holy Shrine

Imamzadeh Yahya Holy Shrine is a place of pilgrimage in Razavi Khorasan province.

Mayamei is a beautiful village that is placed 50 kilometers from Mashhad, on the road of Mashhad to Sarakhs. This village placed on the hillside includes a holy shrine that is worthy for people. Imamzadeh Yahya Holy Shrine dated back to the 10th century AH with an area of 55 hectares.
 

Imamzadeh Yahya (PBUH) was the son of Zayd and the descendant of Imam Zayn al-Abidin (PBUH). It is not clear that the construction date of the Imamzadeh Yahya Holy Shrine belongs to which period of the Islamic era. According to the inscription on the entrance gate its octagonal plan, Iwan (the entrance structure of traditional places), dome and two minarets were built in 937 AH. Also, this place has repaired several times.

This place has an area of two-thousand square meters. It contains a Shabestan (a space like a chamber that can be usually found in traditional places) with 14 foursquare columns. The body of columns was made by Aina-kari, and the foot of the columns is decorated with marble. The ceiling is completely decorated with Aina-kari. This shrine has a two-shelled dome the inner shell has a height of 15 meters and the outdoor 25 meters.
