It covers an area of 7790 square meters. Dating back thousands of years to the Sassanid empire, this castle was used as a huge safety deposit box to store jewelry, supplies, and other treasures. This castle has 468 chambers, each of which belongs to a family to store valuable objects and to shelter when the enemy invaded.

At first glance from outside, you will imagine that behind the brick walls you will not see anything more than ruins of an old castle. After crossing the bridge over the moat around the castle, enthralling pictures will appear in front of your eyes. The castle's labyrinthine corridors that were split into both sides, each showing a fascinating view. By entering each of these passages, the eye-catching chambers will amaze every visitor.

 Behind the brick walls, is the first safe deposit box of Iran and the world that was built during the Sassanid era. After you enter Saryazd Castle from the main gate, you will join a courtyard where you can reach the top of this castle by a narrow adobe staircase. From which you can enter dozens of chamber. Strolling through the narrow corridors and rolling in chambers with low roofs, history will come in your mind.

The Saryazd Castle is one of the most elaborate structures in the ancient pre-Islamic Sassanid era, which was impregnable. The fortifications of this castle are intricate with two main concentric walls, tall towers, and a moat. The inner walls made the structure impregnable when enemies penetrated the outer fortifications. Around Saryazd Castle is a moat with an approximate width of six meters and a depth of three to four meters, which is considered the first layer of defense of the castle.

• What is the best time to go?
   

According to the Yazd climate, the best time to visit the Narin Castle is from early March until early April, when the weather is quite mild.

• Getting there:
   

The Saryazd Castle is located 50 km south of Yazd city. So first go to the city of Mehriz and from there go to the Saryazd village. Apart from the airplane and bus, you can use Yazd Pardis trains to travel Yazd. The ticket price for these trains is about 500,000 Rials, which takes about six hours from Tehran to Yazd.
