Chal-Nakhjir cave

Chal-Nakhjir is a calcareous cave in Iran which dates back to the third geologic period.

Chal-Nakhjir Cave is one of the amazing attractions of Markazi province, which is located between Naraq and Delijan on the hillside of Takht-kooh. This cave dates back to the third geologic period. It is interesting to know that Chal means a pit, and Nakhjir means a hunting ground.

Over millions of years, the fault movement has caused the creation of corridors and some fabulous ponds in Chal-Nakhjir Cave that have made the prominent features of this cave. Moreover, Chal-Nakhjir Cave is an alive cave. It means if some part of this cave destroys, it will be restored over the years.Over 2000 meters of dry spaces have identified on the inside of this cave which these spaces have generally crystallized. Crystalline and spongy ornamentation of the floor, walls, and ceiling are the best sample in the world.

According to geologist’s opinion, the length of the cave is estimated about 12 kilometers, which only six kilometers of it have been discovered up to now. The air temperature inside the cave, similar to the other caves in all seasons is between 7 ° C and 14 ° C.

    Two floors of this spectacular cave have been prepared for visitors. You can follow the path which leads you to visit Chal-Nakhjir Cave. Chal-Nakhjir Cave consists of three levels as follows:
     
    • The first level includes aquifers and a lake that has located on the depth of 61 meters below the cave level. The lowest and maximum depth of this lake is 10 to 70 meters.
    • The second level is a path that starts from the entrance of the cave and continues to 900 meters.
    • The third level starts at 900 meters from the main path and continues to 300 meters.

    One of the other wonders of this cave is the natural ventilation inside the cave. You feel comfort temperature during Summer and Winter. Also, you never feel the lack of oxygen in this cave. Despite the natural ventilation, this cave for people with high blood pressure and having asthma will be risky. Moreover, It is better to know some information about visiting time and the payment of it.
     
    • Visiting the Chal-Nakhjir Cave for foreign visitors costs 200,000 IRR.
    • During spring and summer you can visit the Chal-Nakhjir Cave from 9:00 AM until 7:00 PM.
    • During Autumn and Winter you can visit the Chal-Nakhjir Cave from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
       
  • What is the best time to go?

Due to the steady temperature of this cave you can visit Chal-Nakhjir Cave during all seasons, but late march until late June is the best time to visit this amazing cave.

 

  • Getting there?

Chal-Nakhjir Cave is located 11 kilometers northeast of Delijan in the Markazi province. When you enter Delijan city, pass the first and second square. You will reach Abdollhadi Boulevard after passing Sepah Square. Then enter Fazel Naraqi Boulevard from Basij Square. You should go to the Naraq road after passing Delijan then 10 kilometers later a sign will lead you to the cave.
