Bypassing a long highway in 200 meters!

"Tabiat" Bridge is the largest pedestrian overpass built in Tehran, Iran. The 270-meter three-story bridge made of steel connects two public parks Taleghani Park and Abo-Atash Park by spanning one of the main highways in northern Tehran.

A bridge that has attracted the people's attention for a long time, especially the one who is passing from Hemat, Modarres, or Haqqani highways every day. It's called the "Tabiat" Bridge (The word tabiat means "nature" in the Persian language) and connected two public parks "Taleqani" and "Abo atash" together. The 270-meter three-story bridge made of steel connects two public parks Taleghani Park and Abo-Atash Park by spanning the Shahid Modarres, one of the main highways in northern Tehran. The bridge was designed by Diba Tensile Architecture Company. It has won several awards, including the Popular Choice Prize for Highways & Bridges from the Architizer A+ Awards, a global architectural competition based in New York.

 

The Tabiat Bridge

During the bridge spaces for cultural, recreation, and tourism activities are provided for example coffee shops, restaurants, bars, and galleries. Also, the green space on the bridge could be noted which has created spectacular scenery in the curvature of the body of the bridge.

In Abo-Atash Park there is a skate park for both men and women. It is open every day, from 5 PM to 11 PM. It has a sports shop and a coffee shop. You can rent skates too.

The wooden road food court is a great place to enjoy your time. This famous food court in Tehran has a wooden interior design which gives it an atmospheric space. The wooden road food court has about 15 restaurants and cafes serving Iranian traditional foods, fast foods, Indian and Italian foods. It serves Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The prices depend on the restaurant you choose but, the price is usually from 200,000 IRR to 1,000,000 IRR. If you want to try traditional food we recommend Bene restaurant. It has different foods like kebabs, soups, and seafood. If you’re looking for a cafe you can try Varuna cafe. Varuna has different branches in Tehran and it serves coffees, cakes, snacks, and desserts. The wooden food court is usually crowded on the weekends.

    Just on the first floor of Tabiat bridge, you can see “Bonito Ice cream”. Bonito ice cream makes handmade ice creams. You can choose two different tastes like Nutella and banana, which is a great one, apple and orange or whatever you like. Bonito will make the ice cream for you with milk, sugar, and fresh fruits. The price ranges from 120,000 IRR to 150,000 IRR. Bonito has only three branches in Tehran and one of them is in Tabiat Bridge. Don’t miss these great ice creams. The shop also has ready ice creams having different tastes like Chocolate, dark chocolate, melon, and strawberry.

  • Segway Ride in Abo Atash Park
    Enjoy your time with a Segway ride in Abo-Atash Park. The price is 300,000 IRR and it has two different packages to buy. It’s better to try to segway in the morning because the park is less crowded. Below you can see Segway club working hours:
    - From Saturdays to Wednesdays - 11 AM to 5 PM
    - Thursdays – From 11 AM to 8 PM

  • Gonbad Mina Planetarium

The largest planetarium in the Middle East is designed to show you the wonderful galaxy, space, stars, and other celestial bodies. Gonbad Mina Planetarium has a beautiful dome shape architecture and it is for both educational and entertainment purposes. You can visit Gonbad Mina on Thursdays and Fridays from 6:00 PM to 1 PM and the price is 150,000 IRR. It’s better to check the schedule before visiting.

In Abo-Atash Park there is a restaurant which looks like a boat. It has two floors and on the first floor, there is a juice shop where you can find great juices at great prices. The second floor of the boat restaurant has a great view of the park. The second floor is only used for serving dinner and lunch.

 

  •  Which awards has the bridge received?

    The bridge was designed by Diba Tensile Architecture Company and it made the company known internationally. It has won several awards, including the Popular Choice Prize for Highways & Bridges from the Architizer A + Awards, a global architectural competition based in New York. It was the first choice of people and among the top 5 in the world's 300 prominent architects.
    In 2013 The Bridge was premier structural steel in Iran. In 2014 the International award golden brick was granted to the "Tabiat" bridge. In 2014 it was among the 6 top Bridges in Iran.

 

  • What is the best time to go?
    A trip to the bridge is possible all year round. Visiting hours are from 8 am to 11 pm.

 

  • Getting there:
    There are two main ways to get to this place by car. One from Mirdamad street entering Africa street (Nelson Mandela St) and then to the north. And another way is to go through the Haqqani highway from West to East and then Taleqani Street between the park and the Museum of Sacred Defense. The street is very long and likely to get a parking space.
