Bazangan

Bazangan is the center of the Golbibi Rural District, located in Marzdaran District, Sarakhs County, Razavi Khorasan Province. According to the census in 2006, 915 families live in Bazangan. This village is placed 128 kilometers east of Mashhad in a plain region with a temperate and mountainous climate. You will see three principal monuments in Bazangan, which indicate the history of this rural district as follow:

• Bazangan Castle

  Bazangan Castle dates back to the Afsharid dynasty, located in Bazzangan village, which has been registered as one of the national monuments of Iran.

• Bazangan Lake

  Bazangan Lake is the most famous lake in Khorasan Razavi province, which is also known as Gol Bibi Lake. It is located 130 kilometers from Mashhad, 80 kilometers from Sarakhs County, and south of Hezar Masjed Mountains. This lake, with an area of 80 hectares, has up to 12 meters depth. This lake hosts some migratory birds during different seasons. The water of Bazangan Lake is provided from annual rainfall and small springs. So far, 33 species of Phytoplankton have been identified in Bazangan Lake.

• Bazangan Cave

  Bazangan Cave is placed six kilometers southwest of Bazangan Village and dates back to BC. This Cave includes Stalactite and Stalagmite columns and spring water. The entrance to this cave has a width of 70 centimeters. Moreover, you will see a corridor with four meters long.

    Early spring and early autumn is the best time to see the beauties of nature of Sarakhs County and visit Bazangan village.

• Getting there

  Bozangan is 100 kilometers from the city of Sarakhs. To reach Bazangan, you can drive 6 kilometers from Marzdaran District. When exiting from the main road, you will get Bazangan village. It takes about an hour and a half to reach Bazangan Cave.
