Qashqai people

The Qashqai is one of the brave and fearless tribes of Iran, which the fear has no meaning for them. Tribal life has been linked with migration and life in nature, and this is still moving around the country of Iran.

The Qashqai tribe consists of a combination of tribes with the roots of Turks, Kurds, Lurs, and Arabs, but most of them are Turks. The main center for the life of the Qashqai tribes is Fars province. Almost all of them speak a Western Oghuz Turkic dialect that they call Turki. But due to the size of the land and territory, they also reside in other regions. The most people of this tribe are mainly Shiite Muslims. The name Qashqai derived from the Turkish word for Qashqa meaning White forehead horse.

 

History of Qashqai people

The first famous Qashqai clan manager was Amir Ghazi Shahilo, whose life dates back to the sixteenth century. Today, his mausoleum in the village of Darwish is in the environs of Gandoman. It seems that he was a respectable man because people are still going to visit the tomb. However, it was only at the beginning of the eighteenth century that the Qashqais play a significant role in Fars history. At that time, the Qashqai leader was responsible for the name of John Mohammed Agha, who is most often known as Johnny Agha. They say that the children of this person played an important role in victory India by Nader Shah. Women: Qashqai women's clothing is very diverse and colorful. Women wear a multi-layer skirt with a short jacket. On top of their small hats, they also wear Lace scarves. They use jewelry that reflects their dependence and wealth. Qashqai women do not makeup anything.

Men: Qashqai men are very interested in raising their mustache. The ordinary men of the tribe wear special trousers, corduroy dresses, a long robe with their sturdy shawl and warm welt cassock. Men wear a special hat, known as a rabbit model.

In 1307, when Reza Shah banned from wearing local clothing until 1320 when he was forced to resign, Qashqai men were forbidden from wearing their cassock, belt, and hat. After 1320, Qashqa'i people were wearing their old clothes.

 

Qashqai tribe products and products

The Qashqai tribe is engaged in animal Husbandry and agriculture, whose products are divided into the following categories:

Dairy: Women make dairy products that including butter, yogurt, whey, black kashk, kaymak and so on. The yogurt produced in the musk that is attached to the tripod wooden and they shake it so that it turns into butter and doogh.

Skin industry: Tribal people use sheepskin as dishes and other uses. The cases of sheepskin used such as the musk of water, oil Waterskin, yogurt Waterskin, and doogh Waterskin.

Handicrafts: The most famous handicrafts of Qashqai people are carpet weaving, kilim weaving, Jajim weaving, gabeh weaving.

Agriculture products: Their products are wheat, barley, rice, legumes, herbs, citrus fruits and dates. Women work with men on all things.

Tent: The tribal tent called Bohun that made of black goat's hair. These tents are in the rectangular frame.

 

Nomad

The Qashqais move every year between the cold lands and the tropical lands.

Cold land: The Qashqai cold land covers two areas. An area located between Shiraz and Arjan plain until around Kazeroon.  The other area located in the northeastern part of Shiraz, and from the Sepidan (Ardakan Fars) to the borders of Kohgiluyeh and from northern Abadeh to Shahreza, and is known as the great border.

Tropical lands: The primary tropical regions of the Qashqai are in the southeastern part of Fars, which began from the lowlands and down Lar, Jahrom, Firoozabad to the Gulf coast.
