The delightful sound of traditional music!

The Master Abolhasan Saba is the most prominent characters in the music of the past seventy years. He was born in Tehran in a family familiar with the music and literature. Saba became dominant in playing all musical instruments of Radif. 

At the age of 22, he became the top student and the soloist of the high school music programs and was respected and encouraged by teachers and friends. Saba’s first recording piece was played by the violin in two paragraphs a Homeland song and sung by Ruhangis singer in 1306 and got many attentions.

Saba became dominant in playing all musical instruments of Radif. He could play all Iranian instruments such as Santoor, Tar, Setar, Tonbak, Ney, Kamancheh, violin, and piano at the level of a master, but chose two instruments as his professional Instrument, Setar and violin. In all fields of music and the other arts such as painting and literature, He had top skills, He knew the English language, and was a comprehensive encyclopedic knowledge of science and practice of Iranian music. 

Saba

After forty years of devoting his time on music Master Saba passed away because of heart disease on December 19, 1957, at the age of 55. His home established as a museum and the Zahireleslam street was named as Abolhasan Saba. You can see the works of him and the crafts of his wife in the Saba Home Museum. The museum is divided into two parts as follows:

  • The first part contains the instruments, personal items, and works of Saba.
  • The second section is the wife of Saba's crafts, the collection of wax statues and ancient and traditional costumes.
