What is the Chahar Taghi?

Chahar Taghi is called quadrangle building, which includes four basements and one dome. This building has its entrance in its four corners. These building walls are high thickness and small width. Chahar Taghi is also called four doors or four gates. There are many Chahar Taghi in Iran, but Niasar Chahar Taghi is the strongest Chahar Taghi of Iran.

The Niasar Chahar Taghi

There are many monuments in Kashan's ancient city. One of these monuments is the Niasar Chahar Taghi, which is also scientifically important. This Chahar Taghi is considered one of the ancient fire temples. This building is located at one of the Niasar Kashan Highlands, which was built during the Sassanid period and used for the goal of holding special religious ceremonies.

This monument is one of the oldest and biggest examples of Chahar Taghi. Square stones and brick were used to build this monument. Niasar Chahar Taghi is square and measures 14 meters by 14 meters and covered with a dome on it. This fire temple is a combination of science and religion and is one of the most used buildings in Kashan. Niasar Chahar Taghi ordered by Ardashir I during the Sassanid rule.

In ancient times, this fire temple hosted many ancient Iranian ceremonies in different seasons of the year. Astronomical information has been used to design this monument, which is why the fire temple turned into a solar calendar of Iran in ancient times. In the sunny calendar, time is calculated using shadows created by sun rays at sunrise and sunset.

The weather in Kashan is so cold during the winter and is warm and dry during the summers. The best month to travel to the cities of Iran in May and June. The visit to this fire temple is about 15 minutes long.

If you have a car, you must go to the northwest of Kashan, about 30 km from the city of Niasar. This fire temple is located above the Alexandria Spring, 400 meters from Niasar Cave.
