Alamut is a vast area that is located northeast of Qazvin province. Alamut has divided Qazvin province into Alamut and Roudbar. The Alamut area lies on the slopes of the central Alborz Mountains and on the margin of the Great Shahroud Valley. This ancient and legendary area has witnessed many events throughout history. Due to Qazvin is located the slopes of Alborz, the winters are relatively cold and snowy. Qazvin has a mild and relatively cool climate in summer. But the best season to travel to this area is, in the spring and the months of May and June.
The distance between Alamut and Tehran is about 202 km. You can reach Alamut in about four hours. You must go to the Sheikh Fazlullah highway and from there to the Tehran-Karaj road.
