Ahvaz railway station is located in Ahvaz, the capital of Khouzestan province. It was operated in 1938 as one of the stations in the Trans – Iranian railway, built in the First Pahlavi period, and financed by indigenous capital, gathered from taxation. Trans – Iranian railway and Ahwaz railway station, as a part of that way, played a crucial role in Hitler's defeat. Trans – Iranian railway, scratching from Bandar Shapor (now: Bandar Emam Khomeini), a port in the Persian Gulf, to Bandar Shah (now: Bandar Turkman), a port in the Caspian Sea. It is applied, substantially, to support the Soviet Union with military aid supplied by the Allies while the Soviet Union stood against Nazi Germany. Trans – Iranian railway is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites. Finally, Ahwaz railway station is connected to Khoramshahr railway station, on the boundary of Iran – Iraq, as well.
