Can American tourists go to Iran?
The answer to this question is yes! Although Iran and the United States have not had diplomatic relations for over 4 decades, citizens of both countries can legally travel to the other country. Although due to the lack of embassies in these two countries, the visa process for US citizens is time-consuming and may take up to two months, you can read more about Iran Visa here.
On the other hand, Americans can't travel to Iran individually. The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will only approve your visa if a certified Iranian tour guide accompanies you throughout your trip. You can visit Iran with a group tour or have your own private tour which HiPersia offers a variety of both.

Iran Travel Tips
- Dress Code: Women in Iran must wear headscarves and not wear tight clothing, and men must not wear shorts in public (Except for coastal areas and cities where you can wear knee-high denim or cotton shorts). But there are no restrictions on the color, and you can wear any color you like.
- Money: In Iran, due to sanctions, it is not possible to use Visa and MasterCard, and you must use cash. Hipersia will help you exchange your money and prepare your Iranian debit card, which makes your payments much easier and you won't have to worry about carrying so much cash with you. HiPersia will help with the exchange and charging of the debit card.
- Drinks: The use of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in Iran and carries heavy fines. Also, buying from illegal sellers and consuming alcoholic beverages is not safe at all.
- Internet: Using Iranian SIM cards, you have internet access in almost all parts of the country. Remember that WhatsApp, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook are filtered in Iran, so get a VPN before traveling, and if you haven't acquired one yet we can help you with that too.
- Iran travel safety: In general, Iran is a safe country for tourists. People love tourists and always treat them kindly. However, traveling to Iran on a tour and accompanied by an Iranian guide makes the trip safer.
- No more stamping: Iran will no longer stamp your passport to prevent any problems with your future travels.
An Iran trip itinerary
The most common Iran tour is the classic Iran tour, which includes the cities of Tehran, Kashan, Isfahan, Yazd, and Shiraz, and usually lasts between 8 and 10 days. You can visit other cities and attractions depending on the season you travel to Iran.
For example, in winter, we recommend visiting the deserts and islands of the Persian Gulf and the southern provinces of Iran such as Ahwaz and Bushehr. In summer, the northwest and west of Iran are the best choices with their cool, mountainous climate. At Hipersia, we create tailored itineraries based on your budget, time, and traveling style.
Best time to visit Iran

Iran, you can travel to this country in any season.
What to see in IRAN
- Tehran: Golestan Palace, the only UNESCO site in Tehran with a history of 400 years, is our next suggestion. After that, you can reach Tehran's Grand Bazaar on foot in just five minutes and enjoy visiting it. If you have more time in Tehran, visit the National Museum of Iran, Saadabad Palace, and Azadi Tower are our next offers.
- Kashan: The most beautiful traditional houses in Iran are located in this city. The Abbasid House, the Borujerdi House, and the Tabatabaei House are among the houses you can visit. Other attractions in Kashan are the Fin Garden, Agha Bozorg Mosque, and Kashan Bazaar.
- Isfahan: Isfahan, which was the capital of Iran during the Safavid era, contains valuable attractions from this era. Naqsh-e Jahan Square is the second-largest historical square in the world and one of the most valuable Safavid monuments. After that, we recommend you visit the historical bridges of Sio-Se-Pol and Khaju and the Armenian Quarter.
- Yazd: The historical city of Yazd is registered with UNESCO, and you will have the opportunity to see the old neighborhoods. You can also enjoy the city view from its cafes. The bazaar and the Jameh Mosque of Yazd are located in this historical texture. Amir Chakhmaq Square and Dowlat Abad Garden are other options for visiting in Yazd.
- Shiraz: Shiraz is the birthplace of the Persian Empire. Persepolis, one of the capitals of the Achaemenids, and Naqsh-e Rustam, the burial place of the Persian kings, are located a few kilometers from this city.
