Golestan National Park, with its four-season climate, can actually call a part of paradise on the earth. The park is unique among the natural and tourist attractions of the Golestan province.
Golestan National Park or Golestan Forest, Protected Area in the East of Golestan Province and West of North Khorasan Province. This area is the oldest national park in Iran and a Rare Shelter for wildlife.
The park has about 1700 plant species and 302 species of animals. Golestan Park is about 900 square kilometers. The park registered by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve.
The Golestan National Park is one of the best habitats, vast mammals such as Leopard, brown bear, wolf,Fox, Lynxes, Red deer, Roe deer, Urial, Wild goat, Goitered gazelle and Wild boar. The park is known for its large population of Ovis Orientalis and Urial.
The vis orientalis and Sheep, crowds of this national park in the 1350s were estimated to be around 150,000, equivalent to nearly three-quarters of the world's Urial population. In addition, 21 bird species have been observed in the winter. 19 other species are on their way to their destination in the park for example: Pink Starling, Falcon, Barbary falcon.
According to the studies, there are three species of bivalves have been identified and reported in 24 species of reptiles in Golestan National Park.
The park includes forested and steppe areas, national and natural parks, unique natural waterfalls and numerous rivers. The presence of the mountains and valleys in the park has added beautiful vision and scenic views of this park. The most important species of forest trees in the park include Leafy needle trees, European hornbeam, Quercus castaneifolia, Maple, Alder, Sorbus torminalis, Acer cappadocicum, Ulmus glabra and so on.
The park is not only great because it is one of the wildlife habitats, but also for the preservation of a significant part of the country's biodiversity.
The best time to go to this beautiful international park is spring and from mid-September to mid-November.
One of the ways to go to Golestan Park is Gorgan-Bojnourd highway, which will take you about 3 hours.
