
Bakhshi is a title that used for Dutar players in the north of Khorasan and Turkmen Sahra.
Music of the Bakhshis of Khorasan is a kind of Iranian Folk music that includes the collection of poetry, literature, mysticism, and ethics. Bakhshis are players and luthiers (a person who makes musical instruments), of Dutar, poets, and singers in the north of Khorasan and Turkmen Sahra. Bakhshis are noble players who narrate stories and epic poetry; they live in the north of Khorasan, and agriculture is their principal profession. The music of the Bakhshis of Khorasan was registered on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2011. Improvised playing and playing for a long time are the other abilities of Bakhshis. They only performed in the wedding ceremonies in the past. Performance in mourning has not been regular. Quchan, Bojnurd, Esfarāyen, and Shirvan are the most prominent regions of the Music of the Bakhshis.
