The Saryazd Castle is one of the most elaborate structures in the ancient pre-Islamic Sassanid era, which was impregnable. The fortifications of this castle are intricate, with two main concentric walls, tall towers, and a moat. The inner walls made the structure impregnable when enemies penetrated the outer fortifications. Around Saryazd Castle is a moat with an approximate width of six meters and a depth of three to four meters, which is considered the first layer of defense of the castle.
