In Golestan province in addition to Gonbad Kavus horse racing track, there are two tracks in Aq Qala and Bandar Torkaman. Turkmen horses usually classified into two groups: Iomud and Akhal-Teke. The Akhal-Teke group of Turkmen horses train in Turkmenistan and the Iomud horses in Iran.
The Iomud horse group has a very delicate, so strong, and it can withstand intense heat. This horse is perfect for racing and riding long distances.
This type of horse has a shorter head and neck than the Akhal-Teke, but is higher stability and has a height of 147 to 155 cm. Turkmen horses are usually gray and, unlike other horses, this horse has a flat abdomen. Iomud horses have great joints.
