Bandar Torkaman

Bandar Torkaman is a seaport city in Golestan Province with a lot of fabulous attraction such as beautiful nature, pretty village, Island, wetland, recreational pier, and sandy beaches. Stay with us to see how it will be enjoyable.

Bandar Torkaman is located on the west side of Golestan Province. Due to the Construction of this seaport city in the Reza Pahlavi era, it was known as Bandar Shah before the Iranian Revolution. Bandar Torkaman was the first city of Iran with a railway line, which connected the Caspian Sea to the Persian Gulf. It is better to know that Bandar Torkaman was designed by a group of famous Belgian engineers under the latest architecture & urban planning. Currently, about 14,512 families live in this city.

 

  • Ghara Ghashli Village

Ghara Ghashli village is located 10 kilometers east of Bandar Torkaman through the Bandar to Gorgan road. The village hosts a large number of horse riders each year. It will be an exciting experience to see Turkoman horses closely.

 

  • Ashuradeh

Ashuradeh Island is located on the west of Bandar Torkaman, considered the biggest Island in the Caspian Sea. It lies in the Miankaleh peninsula. Ashuradeh included three islands many years ago, of which two have been submerged. About 40 percent of Iran’s caviar is caught near this beautiful island. The Russians built several hospitals, residential buildings, castles, and a wooden church on the island. Currently, a triangular castle remains on the north of the island as a cultural heritage.

  • Wetland Gomishan

    Wetland Gomishan is located northwest of the  Gomishan district around the Bandar Torkaman. Northside of the wetland is considered a protected area. Wetland Gomishan is the habitat of thousands of migratory birds that spend winter in this international wetland. These migratory birds come to Iran from late October until late April. The prominent bird species of Wetland Gomishan are as follows:

    Phoenicopterus, eastern imperial eagle, saker falcon, swans, heron, coot, starling, common pochard, mallard, slender-billed curlew, sandgrouse, sandpiper, Eurasian teal, large white-headed gulls, stork, pelican, European golden plover, lark, greylag goose, and sternidae.

  • Gulf of Gorgan seaside

 The Gulf of Gorgan's seaside is one of the best attractions of Bandar Torkaman. You can visit the southern and eastern shores of the Caspian Sea during all seasons because these beaches don’t have any ice period. Qarah Su village is one of the best coastal areas in Bandar Torkaman.

 

  • Recreational pier

The recreational pier is located on the west of Bandar Torkaman, where you can take a boat and enjoy boat riding with motorboats or go shopping in the colorful Bazaar. Remember, if you travel to Bandar Torkaman, don’t miss watching the glorious sunset of this pier.

 

  • What is the best time to go?

If you are a nature buff, visit Bandar Torkaman during spring and fall to enjoy the charming nature and spend memorable moments. You can also have yummy dishes of Turkmen, such as Chekderme, which is the most famous food in Turkmen Sahra.

    Bandar Torkaman is located on the west side of Golestan Province. You can reach there as follows:
     
    • If you want to have air travel, the best destination is Gorgan Airport. It takes 46 minutes by car from the airport to Bandar Torkaman.
       
    • If you want to travel by train, take the Tehran to Gorgan train. It takes 36 minutes by car from the railway station to Bandar Torkaman.
