Urmia Airport is an international airport in the northwest of Iran.
Urmia Airport (Shahid Bakeri), is an important international airport which is located in Urmia, capital of West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. Due to the strategic situation of Azerbaijan Province, Urmia Airport is considered as an essential air border in Iran. This airport has a flight band with a length of 3250 meters and proper lighting system for night flights. Also, Urmia Airport is equipped to the ILS system, this device is used for low visibility, storm, and inclement weather. Moreover, Aerodrome Control Service of Urmia Airport is equipped to AMD device to control all movements of airplanes. In 2016, Urmia Airport operated 3,568 flights, 2,663,960 passengers and 393,801-kilogram cargo were transferred by this airport.
