
Great Museum of Zahedan is one of the largest and most attractive museums in the province of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, where works of ancient history, culture and ancient discoveries of Kerman, southern Khorasan and this province are exhibited.
The Great Museum of Zahedan is located in the province of Sistan and Baluchestan. This museum was built in 2011. In this regional museum, you can see works from the archaeological findings of Kerman, Sistan, and Baluchestan and South Khorasan. This museum consists of three parts. In the archaeological section, there are pieces of information about the site's profile, Shahr-e Sukhteh, Mount Khajeh, Dahan-e Gholaman, Jiroft, South Khorasan, and other ancient history works of the Southeast region that have been gathered from visitors.
The objects displayed are works of excavation in Archaeology, such as potteries, objects of metal, mud, rock, glass, exquisite paintings, and linear books. In the anthropology section, topics such as oral literature, celebrities, culture and customs, clothing, food, handicrafts, and so on are introduced in the regions of Sistan and Baluchestan, Kerman, and Khorasan.
In the section on ecology, the regions of Sistan and Baluchistan and the southeast of the country are introduced. For this purpose, there are showcases for displaying the taxidermy of the animal and plant species of the region, as well as the saltwater aquarium. This section is one of the most exciting parts of the museum for children and adolescents.
Another section of the museum is the library, which includes specialized books on cultural heritage, crafts, and tourism.
There is an artificial eye that is found in the Shahr-e Sukhteh. It is the points of this museum. This eye is related to the body of a woman buried in a Shahr-e Sukhteh that was made of natural tar mixed with a kind of fatty animal. On this artificial eye, the smallest capillaries inside the eye are designed with golden wires. This artificial eye is stored in the repository. In this museum, there is a healthy skeleton found in Shahr-e Sukhteh.
The climate of Zahedan is so hot and dry, and the air becomes colder at night. The best time to travel to Zahedan in terms of weather is from early March to early May. The Great Museum of Zahedan is open on weekdays from 7 am until 6 pm and on Fridays from 4:00 to 6:30 pm.
From Zahedan Airport to the Great Museum of Zahedan, it is just 10 minutes by car. The museum is located on Motahari Street, in front of Yas Park.
