Chehel Dokhtar tower

In Semnan, there is an ancient, old and half-ruined tower known as the tower of forty girls. This old building dates back to pre-Islamic times.

There is an old and half-ruined tower located in the middle of the Hakim Elahi Street and on the way to the town of Mahallat Thallath. It dates back to the early years of the Islamic era. Its number is 3035 and on 3/11/1379 to record national and historical monuments.  The people of Semnan, the construction of this tower relate to the forty girls of the fire temple servants. Some people in Semnan believe that the tower made by forty girls who desisted their worldly life. This tower is made of mud and adobe. There are indications that this tower was a Zoroastrian fire temple.

This building is an octagon tower with each side 4/5 meters out of it and 2/80 meters within the tower. The height of the tower is 12 meters in some areas that are staying healthy and reaches 10 meters in the fallen areas.

The wall thickness is approximately 50 to 60 centimeters. This tower has a cone roof that has been destroyed over time.

Now the tower has been located inside the school's courtyard due to urban development but still retains its historical value.

According to the people of Semnan, the tower of the forty girls is one of the buildings that increase the chance of girls' marriage.
