National Museum of Iran

The National Museum of Iran, opened in 1316, is the oldest, the most important and, the largest Iranian museums in Iran. The museum is also known as the main museum.

The National Museum of Iran is located in Tehran and is considered the largest museum in Iran. The architect of this building was André Godard, a French architect. The exterior design of this museum inspired the design of Taq Kasra in the city of Ctesiphon during Sasanian times.

 This museum is divided into two parts of ancient Iran and the Islamic era. In the ancient part of Iran, historical objects from the Paleolithic period (one million years ago to twelve thousand years ago) to the Sassanid era (1500 years ago) exhibit. In the Islamic section, the works of the after-Islamic period also expose.

On the ground floor of the Museum of Ancient Iran, the pottery and exquisite things belong to different periods of history from the contemporary period to the eighth millennium BC. The number of objects displayed in the prehistoric hall section belongs to the Elam civilized. All of the periods of Elamite, many works of art have survived, especially from the Middle Elam period, which is one of most glorious triple Elamite periods. Chogha Zanbil Temple is one of the most important architectural remnants of this period, with remarkable works such as the Cow statue and so on found there.

The National Museum of Iran has ten research sections and a library and documentation center:

Paleolithic section, Prehistoric section, Historical section, Islamic section, Seal and coin section, Restoration section, Inscriptions section, Tile section, Department of Osteology, Library and Documentation Center.

The National Museum of Iran focuses its artistic, cultural work, which begins with stone tools of the Stone Age, and ends with objects used by the Iron Age people in the Prehistoric section. On the second floor of the Ancient Museum, there is a trove of prehistoric times.

The historical period is made up of the Achaemenid, Seleucid, Parthian and Sassanid objects, and one of the most unusual examples of the Parthian period is a half-body remains of a man who accidentally discovered in 1372 along with several parts of the bones and so on. This half-body was known to the salt man after being discovered.

All season in Tehran has its beauty, but the best time to travel to Tehran is spring. Tehran's weather is so hot and dry in the summer and cold in winter. This museum is open from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. Ticket price for foreign people is about 300,000 Rials. It should be noted that it is forbidden to take professional cameras to the museum.

Hassan Abad Metro is the closest metro station to 30th Tir Street and National Museum of Iran. If you want to get on a bus, you will see the famous National Park in front of the National Museum of Iran, where there is one of the bus terminals in the city. You can go to the museum using various bus lines to the Shahr park terminal.
