Tehran Museum of Music

Tehran Music Museum has been established to preserve the works of artists in the field of music.

Museum of Music is one of the fascinating museums in Tehran province with an area of 3650 meters in three stories. You will see an exhibition of artist’s works. The current building of the museum was a residential building in 1972. This building has been restored to be the place of the Museum of Music in 2003. Also, this museum is one of the prominent samples of Iranian house restoration. Finally, Museum of Music was opened in 2009. Finally, Museum of Music was opened in 2009.
 

This museum consists of various parts such as instruments exhibition hall, treasury, audio and video archives, special library, atelier for the exhibition the construction process of musical instruments, audiovisual unit, and Coffee Shop. Moreover, about 240 musical instruments in 200 different type are kept in Museum of Music. The object of this museum includes some musical instruments which have been purchased or borrowed from the famous artist and donation instruments.

• Different parts of the Museum

  The musical instrument exhibition hall includes Percussion instruments, Wind instruments, and String instruments. An audio player will give you some information about musical instruments while you are watching the objects of this hall.
   
  • The Wind and String instruments hall is located on the ground floor. The Wind instruments hall includes Idiophones, Ney, and Syrinx.
     
  • Also, you will see different kinds of Percussion instruments such as Tonbak which is located on this floor.
     
  • One of three levels of the museum dedicates to the donation instruments which belonged to the famous artists such as Mirza Abdollah and Kayhan Kalhor.
     
  • The audio and video archives include works of Mohammad Ali Golshan Ebrahimi and the other valuable artistic works which are digitizing by the museum staffs.
     
  • The treasury of the museum includes remarkable objects of famous artists in the field of music such as conductor’s baton of Heshmat Sanjari, alarm clock of Ali Tajvidi, santur of Hossein Malek, and calendar of Mohammad Taghi Masudieh.
     
  • The other hall that amazes you dedicates to the old audio players.
     
  • The special library of museum includes 6000 books in the field of art, literature, and music.
     

• Visiting information

  It is better to know some information about visiting time and the payment of it.
  • Visiting the Museum of Music for foreign visitors costs 60.000 IRR.
  • You can visit the Museum of Music from 10:00 AM until 6:0 PM from Sunday to Friday.

• What is the best time to go?

The climate of Tehran is suitable for visiting during all season and enjoy the beauties of this city. You will experience a hot Summer and cold winter in Tehran, but it is tolerable.

• Getting there?

The address of the Museum of Music is as follow: Nomber 9, Museum Alley, Takhti junction, Tajrish Square. You can reach there via private car or public transportation such as a taxi, bus or Subway. Also, you can install the Snapp application on your mobile and take a car to reach the museum.

Subway: You should get on the subway train in line-1 or Tajrish line and get off at the Tajrish station. It is a 12-minute walk from the subway station to the museum.

Bus: You should ride the bus rapid transit (BRT) of Valiasr Street and get off at the last station. It is an eight-minute walk from the bus station to the museum.
