The fire temple of Chak Chak, one of the most sacred places of Zoroastrian religious places, is located in the heart of the mountain.

Yazd Chak Chak temple is one of the holy places of followers of the Zoroastrian religion and major destination of religious tourism in Yazd city. This temple has the highest level of attention, Sacred, importance, and value, and attends special days of worship, prayer and fulfillment of its special rules of religion.

It's interesting to know that there are many stories about how to create this sacred place. According to historical narratives, it appears that during the rule of Yazdegerd III (the last Sassanid king), the Arabs are attacking the palace. because of that the king to escape to another city with his family for saving them. He, along with his wife Katayun, his sons, Hormazan and Ardeshir, as well as his daughters, Shahrbanoo, Parsibanoo, Mehrbanoo, Nazbanoo and Nikbanoo (Banoo means lady), went to Yazd to avoid any problem. Also, the Sassanid king ordered to build a great city with a tower and ditch to protect him and his family from the harm of his enemies. Today this city called Yazd. Yazdegerd started the war with the Arabs, but he defeated and had to escape to Khorasan. But Yazdegerd was identified and killed by the miller. Upon hearing the news of the death of Yazdegerd, his family is separated and each one escaped to a point in Yazd. The whole Yazdegerd family is either killed or disappeared in the mountains. But the last daughter of Yazdgerd, Nikbanoo, along with her Goharbanoo (her maid of honor), takes refuge in the Ardakan mountains. Where the Arabs find him and intend to kill him. Nikbanoo climbed up a mountain and said to the mountain: hug me as a gentle mother in your arms and save me against my enemies. At this moment, on the mountain created slope and the mountain takes her in it.

Since then, the Zoroastrians have been cherishing this place and, by creating a temple, they memorialize the chaste lady. There is also an old tree in this palace that the Zoroastrians' belief that from the place where the Nikbanoo’s Walking stick dived into the ground, a green tree appears today that is very sacred to the Zoroastrians. What's so exciting and striking is the emergence of this tree out of stone, which is itself a natural wonder. It should be mentioned that this ancient temple is called green old.

Of course, we must say that this narrative has not been proven, and some Zoroastrian elders do not believe in this story. In the special days of the year (June 27th), Zoroastrians throughout Iran and the world gather in this sacred temple to hold celebrations, prayers. Entering this holy place also has certain customs, as well as other religious shrines. The interior of this fire temple is like an entrance of the cave, and the trunk of the ancient tree is also located there.

    • You must be clean.
    • Before you get in, you should put off your shoes and wear the white slippers that there are.

    • If you want to enter this temple, you must have an invitation card at religious ceremonies, such as May 24th to June 27th. On Sizdah Be-dar, except Zoroastrians, no one can enter this temple.

To go to this fire temple, you can go from Yazd, Meybod or Ardakan that they all have a two-way asphalt road. If you do not have a private car to go to this temple, you can rent a car from Yazd, Meybod or Ardakan and bring yourself to this fire temple.
