Tehran Ghadim Gate

Tehran Ghadim Gate or old gate of Tehran is one of the national monuments of Iran, located in the southeastern entrance of Qazvin city, where is the beginning of Tehran Qazvin road. The gate protected the city of Qazvin from attacks, theft, and looting. Initially, the gate has lain outside the city. Today due to the expansion of the population, it is locating in the city of Qazvin.

• History

  The city of Qazvin consisted of nine entrance gates in the past that were known as follows: Rasht gate in west, Darb-e Koushk gate in northeast, Tehran gate in southeast, Sheykhabad gate in northeast, Hamadan gate in southwest, kandovar gate in the southwest, Salavan gate in the southeast, Rah-e Rey gate in the southeast, and Panbeh Riseh gate in the east of the city. These gates have considered as the cultural and artistic identity of Qazvin. Currently, just Darb-e Koushk gate and Tehran Ghadim Gate have remained.

• Architecture

  Tehran Ghadim Gate dates back to the Qajar era. You will see marvelous architectural style and ornamentation such as Qashani. This gate consists of a brick structure with three portals that the middle one is higher than two others. Moreover, the gate includes eight minarets.

  To see the old gate of Tehran, you should travel to Qazvin. During this journey, you will see the slope of the Alborz region with a snowy winter and a mild summer. The best time to enjoy moments starts from late April until late September.

  Tehran Ghadim Gate is placed on the Tehran Ghadim Square, Qazvin, Qazvin Province. To reach there, you can use taxi calls; call 133 after declaring your position, a taxi will be provided at your place after a few minutes.
