Shiraz is a historical and cultural city in Iran. It is 60 kilometers from the ancient city, Persepolis which was the capital of the Achaemenid Empire until 330 BC. In addition, Persepolis is on the list of world heritage sites by UNESCO. Moreover, two of the most well-known Iranian poet's tombs, Saadi and Hafez, are in Shiraz. You can travel to Shiraz by train.
