Kamal-Ol-Molk

Kamal-ol-molk is one of the most famous painters of the Qajar era, called the Persian Father of Painting. He was born in an artistic family and the beautiful city of Kashan.

Mohammad Ghaffari, who later became known as Kamal-ol-molk, was born in Kashan in 1224. His reputation began when he decided to go to Tehran with his brother and go to school to continue his education in art. Mohammad Ghaffari and his brother studied at the Dar ul-Funun School for three years and gained many honors in painting. One day, Naser al-Din Shah Qajar, who visited Dar ul-Funun's school, sees the painting that Mohammad Ghaffari draws from his school principal and he influenced by the art of this painter so he orders to bring him to court and hire a court. Kamal-ol-molk in the royal court, record events, and paintings of people, buildings and gardens, and so on. Nasser al-Din Shah first made him a painter and then called Kamal-ol-molk. After Naser al-Din Shah's death, he went to Europe for several years, but after the reign of Mozaffar ad-Din Shah Qajar, came to Tehran, he continued his painting work. Kamal-ol-molk died in 1319 when he was 95 years old. Currently, 35 paints of Kamal-ol-molk kept at the Golestan Palace Gallery. Some examples of his outstanding work are as follows:

Mirror Hall, Golestan Palace Basin, Naser-al-Din Shah portraiture, the fortune-teller and drawing his portrait in three shades.

Kamal-ol-molk’s tomb is located in the garden of the shrine of Attar's tomb. Tomb of Kamal-ol-Molk is in Neyshabur and made by Houshang Siehoun. Kamal-ol-molk’s tomb is built on an area of 28 square meters with six small porches and have ten arcs. Kamal-ol-molk’s tomb located in the southeast of Neyshabur, among the big garden. you must go to the Fazl square, Erfan street. You necessity Take the vast garden. So, continue to the end of the Erfan street. The bus transportation system of Neyshabur city has any services on this route. It only stops at Khayyam tomb. So, getting a taxi or private car is the best option to receive there. It takes about 15 minutes from khayyam tomb to Kamal-ol-molk’s tomb.
