Rasht railway station is located in Rasht, the capital city of Gilan province. There is green and fertile land in the form of a belt stretching along the southern shore of the Caspian Sea. This belt covers three provinces in the north of Iran, Gilan, Mazandaran, and Gorgan. Gilan has a humid subtropical (Hyrcanian) climate, and its geographical position, where it is bound by the green side of the Alborz mountain range in the south and the coast of the Caspian Sea in the north, makes Gilan a popular tourist resort among Iranians. Rasht railway station is a young one, operated in 2019. This station is part of a strategic plan, International North-South Corridor, which is to be extended to connect Azerbaijan.

Qazvin train station is on the way to the Tehran–Rasht train line. But, in addition to it, there is a special line offering service from Rasht to Qazvin and vice versa
