Visit the rainbow of colors in Nasir al Mulk Mosque!

Beauty, peace, and glory have all gathered in Nasir al Mulk Mosque. Compared with other mosques of Iran, Nasir al Mulk Mosque Architecture is completely different: The mosque has wonderful stained glass, so once the sunlight hits the stained glass, the entire building is flooded by a rainbow of colors.

Though Shiraz city has about 200 mosques, Nasir al Mulk Mosque is considered to be the most beautiful mosque in Iran. Nasir al Mulk Mosque is a must-see place in Shiraz city. Nasir al Mulk Mosque is also known as the Pink Mosque, due to the beautiful pink color tiles used for its interior design. The mosque was built at the end of the 19th century, during 12 years, by the order of Mirza Hasan Ali Nasir al Mulk. Nasir al Mulk Mosque is famous for its exquisite colored tiling and wonderful stained glass of the winter prayer hall. The mosque has two western and eastern prayer halls. The entrance fee to Nasir al Mulk Mosque is about 500,000 IRR for foreign visitors.

• Fine Muqarnas
• Don’t miss the fine muqarnas in the Entrance portal of Nasir al Mulk Mosque. Also, in the northern iwan, there is an arch known as “Morvarid” designed with fine Muqarnas. On the second floor, on both sides of the arch, you can see amazing colored tiles on the walls.

There are many traditional elements in Nasir al Mulk Mosque architecture. In the northern iwan, you can see panj kaseh-I, five concaves which create a breathtaking view in the roof.

Nasir al Mulk Mosque has two bedchambers. The western prayer hall is the most beautiful part of the mosque. It’s where you can see the most eye-catching features. The western prayer hall has 12 carved columns, Colorful tiles in the ceiling and walls, and stained glass windows. It has seven wooden doors with stained glass too. The Eastern prayer hall is not as beautiful as the western one. It has a museum and a door opens into the Gav Cha (Cow Well), in which cows walked downhill to raise the water.

Wake up early in the morning and as a reward, you will be able to see the most beautiful view of Nasir al Mul Mosque! During the morning, the mosque is less crowded and it is the best time to take photos. If you are a photographer wake up as early as possible in the morning. Nasir al Mulk Mosque continues to be used as a place for prayers, so the mosque is closed to visitors during the prayer time. From April to September -  8 AM to 1 PM and 3 PM to 7:30 PM.
From September to March - 8 AM to 11:30 AM and 3 PM to 5:30 PM. 

• Why are the curtains closed?​​​​​​​

Sometimes the curtains of the mosque are closed and it stops sunlight. It may have different reasons, sometimes the caretakers close the curtains to protect the wooden window frames from the sunlight or sometimes due to the cold weather. You can ask the caretakers to open the curtains so that you can enjoy the sunlight through the stained glass.

• What is the best time to go?​​​​​​​

Autumn and winter due to the sun angle, are the best to visit Nasir al Mulk Mosque. In autumn and winter, the lower altitude of the Sun causes the sunlight to shine at an oblique angle. It allows the photographer to take photos in the best light condition.

• Getting there​​​​​​​

Nasir al Mulk Mosque is located in Shiraz city, Southern Iran. Nasir al Mulk Mosque is located in the district of Gowad-e-Araban, south of Lotf Alli Khan Zand Street, near Shah Cheragh Mosque.
You can visit Vakil Bazaar, Vakil Mosque, and Vakil Bath and then walk through the Lotf Alli Khan Zand Street. With just a 15 minute walk you will get to Nasir al Mulk Mosque. Also, the nearest subway station to Nasir al Mulk Mosque is the Valiasr subway, Line1. From Valiasr subway you can take a taxi to Nasir al Mulk Mosque. It takes about 15 minutes to get there.
