Sialk hills

Sialk Hills is the first urban civilization in the central part of Iran, where including the oldest handmade clay, Painted pottery, and Sialk Ziggurat.

About 80 years ago, an urban civilization appeared by flooding agricultural farms in Kashan. Sialk Hills is a large ancient archeological site which is located in the suburb of Kashan, Isfahan province. Some written documents were found at this site that belongs to the Achaemenid Empire.

Sialk Hills is actually a Ziggurat (a Religious place of worship which was created by the Elamite civilization) with 3 floors, which is made of clay and pottery. The Ziggurat was constructed pyramid-shaped for the major cities of Mesopotamia.

 Every generation buried their ancestors in a basement without bricks, the corpses buried in a squatting position with their ornamental objects.

• Different parts of the Sialk hills

  Sialk Hills contain two northern and southern hills, with a distance of 600 meters from each other, and two cemeteries. One ofthe  two cemeteries is 3500 years old, which is located 200 meters south of the southern hill. The other one is 3000 years old, which is located under agricultural farms on the western side of the hills.

• Sialk Hills Discovery

  It dates to 7000 years, walking in a 7000-year-old village is something spectacular.
   
  • Some Human skeletons and ancient containers were found in this site, which are protected in the Louvre Museum, the National Museum of Iran, and the museum located in Fin Garden and the Sialk hills site.
    These antique containers, including chalices, cups, spouted jars, and other vessels, depict fine paintings of the sun, humans, and animals.
     
  • The spectacular attractions around the site are the small parts of broken pottery that are a thousand years ago.
  • Discovery Spinning and Knitting shows the skill of the Spinning and Knitting industry a thousand years ago. Moreover, the discovery of melting furnaces on the southern side of the site, Sialk hills, can be considered as one of the most industrialized cities of that era.
     

• What is the best time to go?

  It is better to know some information about the visiting time and the payment for it.
   
  • Visiting the Sialk hills for foreign visitors costs 150,000 IRR.
  • During spring and summer, you can visit the Sialk hills from 9:00 AM until 6:30 PM.
  • During Autumn and Winter, you can visit the Sialk hills from 9:00 AM until 4:30 PM.

• Getting there

Sialk hills are located near the road that connects Kashan to Fin, near Dizicheh village, about four kilometers south of Kashan. You will reach there via private car or a taxi. Also, it is better to know that the northern hill is not accessible.
