Naraq is an old city with a dry and cool climate hosts you with different attractions. You spend a journey through the Qajar era by visiting historical houses, Caravanserai, traditional museum, also, strolling along the alleys belong two thousand years ago.
Naraq is an old city which is located 15 kilometers from Delijan, Markazi province. Due to its location between the mountains, this city has a pleasant climate. We try to show you the most attractive places during two days.
The first 24 hours
Visit: Shams-Ol-Saltaneh Bazaar, Shams-Ol-Saltaneh Caravanserai, Haj Mahdi Naraqi Caravanserai, Haj Mahdi Ab anbar, Anthropological Museum, Masoumi high school, Nakhjir house (Traditional Guests House), Jame Mosque of Naragh, fazelain historical house, Raufi house, and Foroughi house.
The adventure starts with the famous Bazaar of Naraq, this old indoor Bazaar contains brick components and refers to the Qajar era. You can see a specific architectural style with a dome on the roof. Moreover, you face wooden doors that contain marvelous carving.
If you want to enjoy a yummy evening meal, suggest to try Jozghand, this local Sweet takes 15 days to cook and is known as the most expensive Iranian sweets.
In the following part of the visit the Bazaar, you face Shams-Ol-Saltaneh Caravanserai on two floors in which the first floor was a place for animals and the second one belongs to the merchants.
This place belongs to one of the oldest merchants of Naraq. This Caravanserai contains two floors, the first one is known as Tajer Serai with octagonal architectural planning, including some stores and one marvelous Howz (pool) in the middle. The other floor used to rest.
You face the most amazing doors with Girih tiles (Islamic geometric patterns) which made from Walnut wood.
This place is a traditional monument that used to saving water which considered as the water museum. It contains a water supply which covered with a dome, a Badgir (wind-catcher), stairs, and portal.
Instruments of water and pottery irrigation, the way to operate the watermills have been documented in this museum. The Hajj Mahdi Ab-Anbar was registered by the Cultural Heritage Organization in 2001.
This museum created by the effects which gathered from local houses. This museum was known as Asaran (factory of Degreasing).
It might be interesting to visit the landing site of a meteorite in 44 years ago. In 1975 a meteorite landed on the laboratory of Masoumi high school. You can take photos and enjoy this part of your journey.
Experience the best Naraq dishes in a traditional guest house. This traditional house is located in Delijan. The architectural style of this place contains a home in the garden. The Nakhjir House focuses on indigenous and local foods, horticultural organic products, and try to develop and restore the local and traditional values of this historic city.

The existence of a Jame mosque in Naraq reflects the prosperity and centrality of this city at those time. The architectural style of this mosque belongs to the Qajar era and is similar to the Agha Bozorg mosque in Kashan. The entrance of the mosque which entirely covered by walnut wood, besides colorful tiles and Islamic Architectural effects has created a spectacular view.

At the end of the first 24 hours suggest walking through the old alleys of Naraq.
Visit: Dahuk Caravanserai, Khurheh Rural District, Chal-Nakhjir, Atash Kooh Fire Temple, and Mahallat Hot Spring.
The architectural style of this place is similar to Seljuq dynasty. There are three watchtowers on the northern, eastern, and western sides that shows it was a military castle. It is located in the northeast of Mahallat, along the Delijan Road to Khurheh.
This place belongs to the Seleucid Empire with an area about 3000 square meters. Only two long stone columns (8 meters) and some graves have remained from the Khurheh Rural District.
This enormous place is located in the northeast of Mahallat. Markazi province.
Chal-Nakhjir is a cave which is located between Naraq and Delijan. Over 2,000 meters of dry space is identified on the inside of this cave, which is generally crystallized and crystalline and spongy ornamentation of the floor, walls, and ceiling are the best sample in the world.
One of the other wonders of this cave is the natural ventilation inside the cave. You feel comfort temperature during Summer and Winter. Also, you never feel the lack of oxygen in this cave.
After eating lunch in the Be-sat restaurant continue the journey to Nimvar. You face the biggest Fire Temple of Sasanian Empire which is located on the hillside of Atash Kooh. This enormous place is made of stone and Sarooj with an area about 600 square meters.
This ancient monument is situated 13 kilometers from Mahallah and 5 kilometers from Nimvar.
At the end of the journey try hydrotherapy in Mahallat Hot Spring to take a rest and refresh. There are six Hot Springs in Mahallat which has a long history. Spring and Summer is the best time to go there and enjoy in a natural way.
