Kamal-ol-Molk Tomb

Tomb of Kamal-ol-Molk laid beside the mausoleum of Attar among a beautiful garden in Nishapur, Razavi Khorasan Province. A concrete shell with a specific structure and Islamic ornamentation has created an eye-catching view in this garden.

Kamal-ol-Molk is one of the most well-known painters of the Qajar era, called the Persian Father of Painting. He was born in an artistic family in the beautiful city of Kashan.

• Atchitecture

  Hooshang Seyhoun is one of the famous Iranian architects who has designed the tomb of Kamal-ol-Molk in Nishapur. This concrete shell is situated on an area of 28 square meters. The structure of this tomb contains six concave iwans with ten arches. The geometry is the bold point in the architectural planning of this tomb. Six semicircular arches and four crossover arches are placed on the diameters of the square. You face a combination of contemporary and traditional architecture.

• Ornamentation

  Tomb of Kamal-ol-Molk is in good harmonic design with the mausoleum of Attar. When you stare at the Mosaic and alluring tiles on this concrete shell, it seems that both of them are the same.
   

• Headstone

  The headstone was made in Zahir-od-dowleh cemetery and then moved to Nishapur. Also, it is made of granite with a rough texture on the top of the headstone. There is a relief of Kamal-ol-Molk, which was made by Abolhassan Sadighi.
   

• What is the best time to go?

Late April until early July is the best time to visit Nishapur and enjoy the beauties of there.

• Getting there

Kamal-ol-Molk’s tomb is located in the southeast of Neyshabur, in a big garden. You must go to the Fazl Square, Erfan Street. You necessity to take the vast garden. So, continue to the end of the Erfan Street. The bus transportation system of Neyshabur city has some services on this route. It only stops at the Khayyam tomb. So, getting a taxi or private car is the best option to get there. It takes about 15 minutes from Khayyam's tomb to Kamal-ol-Molk’s tomb.
