What distinguishes the Yazd Water Museum from other water museums is the passage of a hundred-year-old qanat, which served the needs of the people once upon a time.

In the five floors of this museum, you can watch various works on water and how to use it in the past. The house was built on the orders of the Hajj Seyyed Ali Akbar Kolah Duz, a merchant of the Qajar era, between 1266 and 1269. This land of the building is about 720 square meters and has five floors:

 

  • First floor

This level is considered the lowest floor of the house and runs through the two qanats of Rahim Abad and Zarach. Today the Zarach qanat is still active, with more than 2000 years old and 75 km length.

 

  • Second floor

The second floor is a riffle (Part of any water structure that has the lowest bezel.). riffle is also considered a place for washing dishes and clothes. The riffle of this building is located at a depth of 10 meters and is octagonal. In the past, this place has been a great place to hold food. In the past, the flow of the qanat through this part made it colder than other parts. Food storage was also done in a specific way. At that time, they placed the food on a wooden plate and hung it in the air and on the ground.

The fifth floor includes the roof of the house, which is called the House Well and the Well Wheel can be seen. Through Well Wheel, they removed water from the qanat and used it for daily consumption.
