The royal palace of Ramsar or the Marmar palace (marble) is one of the most beautiful monuments of the Pahlavi era in northern Iran.
This palace was built on the order of Reza Shah Pahlavi in 1316 and used until the 1357 revolution as a royal family residence. The palace building is located in an area of 60,000 square meters. The gardens of this palace, the first to have citrus, and rare plants have been planted in this garden. Ramsar Palace has one of the most impressive and diverse Iranian gardens. Psilotum nudum is one of the most prominent plants in this garden. Psilotum nudum is one of the most fundamental plant species in the world.
This palace was engineered by Havens Onik Gharibian under the supervision of Iranian and German architects of that time. The palace building is made up of white marble. There is a porch with four columns of marble carvings. On the two sides of the staircase behind the palace, there are two marble statues of tigers.
There are five other mansions in Ramsar's palace that one of which is the old bathroom of Ramsar palace. This bathroom was built by Reza Khan. The old bath consists of a hot water pool, a cold water pool, and so on. The heating source uses firewood. The water of the old bath supplied from the spring is located southwest of the yard. In front of the palace, there is a blue pond that sometimes there are sometimes a few caviar fish in the pond.
The interesting point in designing the passage of this garden is that you cannot enter the palace directly. The paths are covered with sand and decorated with boxes (a kind of plant) and other types of flowers.
After the Islamic Revolution, this palace became a museum, and people can visit this museum. Another interesting point to know is that the International Ivory Museum in Iran is located in this complex. The Ramsar Palace succeeded in becoming the most visited museum in Iran in 1390.
