
El Gölü Park is a beautiful garden in Tabriz which is known as one of the most popular attraction of this city.
El Gölü Park is also known as Shah Gölü Park, which is located in the southwest of Tabriz and 7 kilometers from downtown. El Gölü Park is a garden that dates back to the Aq Qoyunlu era. This garden was developed during the Safavid period. Shah Gölü means pool of Shah (king) in the Azarbaijani language. The name of this garden has been changed to El Gölü after the Iranian Revolution in 1979. El Gölü means the pool of people.
This garden consists of an artificial lake and a mansion, which are surrounded by trees. The importance of this garden is its artificial lake, with a length of 200 meters on each side. You can enter this mansion from every side. The maximum depth of this pool is about 12 meters, but at the eastern corner, this depth varies between three and six meters. Lake water supply from a branch of the Liqvan River.
This garden has been designed similarly to the other Persian Gardens. A paved path ends with an octagonal mansion at the center of the lake. The El Gölü mansion includes two stories, which was built with the architectural style of the Zand dynasty. This mansion was a promenade for the princes, that today is now used as a restaurant.
