Sefidrud Dam

There is a dam in the city of Manjil called Sefidrud Dam. This dam is one of the oldest dams in Iran.

The Sefidrud Dam is located in the city of Manjil that also called Manjil Dam. Sefidrud Dam at the beginning of the Sefidrud River, at the intersection of the Qizil Üzan and Shahrood Rivers. Construction of Manjil Dam began in 1952 and was put into operation in 1962. Sefidrud Dam water is used for electricity production and water supply for agriculture in Gilan province. The lake created by the Sefidrud Dam in Manjil has a beautiful landscape of the mountains and hills around the lake that attract tourists. A little further away from the dam, there is the possibility of boating in the water of the lake. So, you can watch or take a photo of the beautiful scenery of the lake. The Manjil area is very windy so there are many wind turbines in the city to generate electricity. These turbines have created a spectacular landscape.

After Manjil, you will reach the city of Rudbar (of course, your origin affects in this case.). The city of Rudbar is famous for its olives. We suggest you visit the Rudbar olive shops and buy them as souvenirs. Also, after watching this beautiful dam, you can get in your car and go a little further into the village of Harzevil. There is attraction tourist called old Harzevil Cypress.

Manjil does not have a special residence because it is a small city. But if you are planning to stay in this area, I suggest you go back a bit and go to the city of Rudbar. In the city of Rudbar, there are good hotels and ecolodges.

• What is the best time to go?

Manjil is also the confluence of three types of climate: temperate Caspian, Alborz mountains and warm and dry central Iran, so it has a unique climate. Also, because of the confluence of these three climates, there is usually a relatively strong wind, which often blows more heavily in spring and summer, and less in autumn and winter.

• Getting there?

Manjil is located in the southern part of Rudbar city as well as south of Gilan province. Manjil is located in the middle of the Tehran - Rasht road. If you are traveling from Tehran to Rasht, you have to pass approximately 245 km. If you want to get to Manjil from Rasht, you have to travel about 76 kilometers. This city is after Rudbar city. In general, you should go to Manjil from Qazvin-Rasht highway.
