Salt lakes

One of the impressive nature of Iran is its seductive landscape of salt lakes. Seasonal or permanent lakes that are covered with salt, and create a spectacular panorama of their platforms.

Lake Houz Sultan

 

Salt Lake is located 40 km north of Qom and 85 km south of Tehran on the edge of the Persian Gulf highway and located in the north of the Alborz Mountains. The size and shape of the lake vary according to the arrival of water and rainfall in different seasons. The lake is composed of two separate pits. The western hole called Hawz Sultan lake and the eastern hole is called the Hawz Mhrah lake. This lake is also called the Great Mirror of Iran.

Lake Urmia

 

Urmia Lake with an area of more than 5000 square kilometers of vast and shallow lakes on the planet. The water of this lake is supersaturated with salt. Urmia Lake in the northwest of Iran is the largest and the highest inland lake. This Salt Lake lies between eastern and western Azerbaijan and the lowest part of the lake surrounded by the mountains of Sabalan, Sahand, Meshudagh, Mahabad, Takht-e-Solaiman and the border elevations of Iran and Turkey. Lake Urmia is the highest lake in the Iranian plateau. The lake is only navigable lake Iran. Zarrineh Roud, Simineh Rood, Talkheh Rood, Nazlou Chai and...are from the rivers that Lake Urmia feeds on.

Aran and Bidgol

 

The geographical location of this lake is located between the three provinces of Isfahan, Qom, and Semnan and positioned 35 km northeast of Aran city and Bidgol. The lake limited from the west to the white-water mountain and Black Mountain and Desert National Park area, From the north and west to the desert of Mesilah and from the south to the desert of Maranjab and Rig. The other name of this lake is Masely. Calling this name is due to the enormous salinity of lakes so that salt particles float in summer.

Kaji Lagoon is one of the most beautiful landscapes in 75km of Nehbandan, on the outskirts of the city of Birjand. The area of this salt marsh is 22 thousand hectares and 765 square meters.Despite the drought of the past few years in the city, it remains alive and stable. This vast salt marsh has become salt and white, because of the low elevation of the lake and high salinity of the soil.

Salt Lake Haj Aligholi

 

Haj Ali Gholi is located in the southeast of Damghan city and near the village of Khourzan. The area extends from Mount Ahwand to the east to the village of Farat in the west. Lake Maharloo

 

Lake Maharlou is located in Fars province. The lake excited by visitors because of its red color. The strong evaporation of the Maharlou Lake caused the salinity to increase dramatically and ared seaweed called Red Tide is being propagated in it. The excessive growth of these algae in the lake has caused all of its water to turn red. There is no living creature except an aquatic species called Artemia.
