Haruniyeh Dome

One of the mysterious buildings of Tous is the Haruniyeh Dome, which is called stories about it.

Haruniyeh Dome located 25 kilometers northwest of Mashhad. It is one of the oldest buildings of the Tous city, that situated at the beginning of the historic Tous, near the Ferdowsi Tomb.

The construction's time of the building surely recognized yet, but researchers believe that this dome built in the seventh and eighth century. Historians did not know how to use this building. This object makes the Haruniyeh Dome very mysterious. This place is one of the most famous places in Mashhad attracting many tourists every year. This monument can be said to be the only remaining work in the city of Tous.

There are many legends about this. Some say that Haruniyeh Dome was a time in prison and torture. Others believe that in this place, Imam Musa al-Kadhim was imprisoned and tortured. Some people also think that this dome was a fire temple in ancient times.

But some also told that Harunieh was the Khanqah (It is said to be the place of life, education, and the gatherings and activities of Dervishes and Sufis.) and the teaching place, or even the burial place of Imam Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali. It made before the Mongol invasion (beginning of the 6th century AH).

The possibility of this opinion is more than before opinions because There is a small memorial of Imam Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali located in the outer building of the dome.

In general, the main map of this building, is made up of 4 ears and features 8th-century AH architecture. This dome is made of bricks and has an Azeri style of architecture. In the past, the Haruniyeh Dome in Mashhad has three entrances, which now closed east and west doors.

You can travel to this point of tourism in all seasons. Remember that Mashhad has cold weather in winter.

• Getting there?

To access the Haruniyeh Dome in Mashhad, you should go to the central part of the Tous district. If you do not have a personal car, you can use the Ferdowsi square 202, bus line to Ferdowsi's tomb. Get off at Shahnameh 64 station. Haruniyeh Dome is in front of you.
