.Ferdowsi is the greatest Iranian epic poet (or perhaps the whole world). He born in Tous city in Mashhad province.
Abu l-Qasim Firdowsi Tusi is an Iranian epic poet (329- 416 AH). He was born in a peasant family. During the Sassanid period, the peasants were in the aristocratic class. Ferdowsi began writing his greatest masterpiece (Shahnameh) at the age of thirty. When the language of knowledge and literature in Iran was Arabic, Ferdowsi was able to forgive of life the Farsi language by writing the Shahnameh. There are about 60,000 couplets in the Shahnameh. It is considered one of the greatest and most prominent epic poems of the world.

- After Ferdowsi's death, he did not accept his figure in any cemetery, because of his follow-up of the Shia religion. Inevitably Ferdowsi was buried in his garden in the city of Tous. For the first time, Arsalan Hazeb (who was the commander of Sultan Mas'ud I of Ghazniand and a devotee of Ferdowsi) built a tomb over the grave of Ferdowsi. The tomb of Ferdowsi built by Arsalan Hazeb, stayed for nearly 100 years.
- During the reign of Garguz, the building of the tomb destroyed and its materials used to build the castle in Tous.
- During the era of Ghazan Khan, a person named Amir Isen built a building at Ferdowsi's burial site and a Khanqah near Ferdowsi's grave. Amir Isen died before the construction completed.
- At the time of Nasir al-Din Shah Qajar, two rooms were temporarily built at the site of the Ferdowsi's grave so they could build a great tomb.
- After the First World War and at the time of Reza Shah, people in a statement called on the Shah to make a beautiful tomb for Ferdowsi. Therefore, the tomb constructed with the design of Andre Godar and Karim Taherzadeh Behzad.
In this tomb, there is a museum that its stuffs for the before Islamic era, the Islamic era and Ferdowsi's time.
