Valley of the Stars is a geological phenomenon with a depth of 15 meters created by the gradual erosion of the soil. It is also known as the Stars Valley, located on Qeshm Island, Hormozgan province. This geological phenomenon dates back to two million years ago. Surface waters, gusts, and seasonal storms have caused erosion of soil, which created the Valley of the Stars. The primitive sandstone plateau still remaining intact on the northern side at a height of seven to ten meters above the ground. It is full of fossil shells. The features and spectacular view of the Valley of the Stars caused the registration of this phenomenon as a part of Qeshm Geopark in the UNESCO Organization. Qeshm Geopark, with its all-natural and historical beauties, is the only Geopark in the Middle East.
Local people believe a star hit the ground many years ago and made the Valley of the Stars. The shape of this place reminds the kaluts in the Lut desert. You can see the stars near the ground at night. While visiting the Valley of the Stars, keep quiet and listen to the exciting sounds created by the wind blowing through the rocks. These sounds can be awful in the night.
There are many houses for tourists in different parts of Qeshm where native people host you in a traditional way. Late October till early May is the best time to visit the Valley of the Stars. During Autumn and Winter, you can see the migratory birds and Dolphins on Qeshm Island and enjoy your travel.
